Another Potty Training Attempt = FAIL

I don't know why I even try. I feel some pressure to have him trained by the time baby brother gets here, but I'm not sure why. All the doctors and experts say he'll relapse when the baby gets here anyway. All my friends with older boys say just to wait and it'll be way easier. But alas, I insist on torturing myself.

Our friends Angela and Jacob did the Three Day Potty Training Program and had great success. Basically, you commit to throwing out your diapers and tell the kid to tell you when they need to go potty and run them to the bathroom when they start to go. Simple enough. I'm determined to give it a shot.

Yesterday, I talked to Owen about being "all out of diapers" and tomorrow he is going to start wearing big boy underwear and go potty in the potty. He seemed on board.

Starting this morning at 8:00am we put on our big boy underwear and he stays dry for one hour and 45 minutes! FANTASTIC! I tell him a least 600 times to tell me if he has to go potty. We play and I don't let him out of my sight. I finally go to fill up my water bottle, I'm out of the room 30 seconds. Come back to wet underpants. REAL wet! An hour and forty-five minutes of holding it wet! I run him to the bathroom, excitedly, put him on the potty, knowing he's done, but praise him and give high fives and some jelly beans and make it a big positive thing!

He wants nothing to do with putting on new underwear. Runs away, saying "NO NO"! I finally get them on him and start with the "tell mommy if you have to go potty" mantra again. Well, by 11:30am we had SIX wet underwear accidents. He peed every 10-15 minutes after that, standing right in front of me. He threw a fit every time I'd run him to the bathroom when he'd start to go and WOULD NOT sit on the potty and then had to be wrestled into clean underpants.

After the sixth, he crawled into my lap and said "Owen's sad"! I ask him if he wants underwear or a diaper. He says diaper. We put on the diaper and we go to make lunch.

I don't want it to be a huge battle. He's clearly not interested in it. I need to just wait.
