I suppose it's nice that you get a warning, but Owen's latest thing is to say "push" and then walk right up to you and push you. Or at a playgroup, some kid. Boy, girl, bigger, smaller, it doesn't matter, he's not afraid to take you down. That goes for the other action words as well. If you hear "kick" watch your shins people. "Throw" and heads up folks. "Hit" well it's rare you can escape the punch in time. It appears that we're raising a bully. Don't worry, I'm taking action. We've started the dreaded "time-out". So far, he thinks it's a game, but I'm hoping it'll sink in and start to work.
I can tell you most of the parents of the recipients of Owen's aggression are none too pleased. We are not popular in playgroups right now, we've even had to leave a few early.
Let's cross our fingers that this is a phase, a fast moving, over in a flash, phase.

19 Months Exactly
Owen woke up on his 19 month birthday and did not ask for "milk, peeeaaase, sure"! He went all day! It's day 3 and still no "milk". I am glad that after all my attempts, we did it on his time. There's so much less guilt this way. For both us, it's time, even though I'm sad.
Oh my little baby is officially a little boy!

Practice makes perfect
I'm so impressed at the determination that this little guy has. When he's learning a new skill, he really takes focus! He tripped over a step at nana's new house in Tahoe and he went in and out and over that darn thing until he had it down. He'll also spend time opening and closing a door, until he can do it proficiently by himself. I like the focus, I like the repetition and mostly I like the silence that it usually brings!

What a day!
A traumatic haircut and another black eye!
We headed out first thing in the morning for his 3rd official haircut. The kid's hair grows so fast and so long. Well he hated it, again. He cried and squirmed the entire time. It's short too. I like it a little longer, but I can't see it when he's on my lap flailing about.

Then we were playing play-doh and he fell of the chair with a turkey baster in his hand and jabbed him the eye. Instant swelling and redness.
Poor kid!
Oh, we went to the zoo today too.
Wow! What a day.

Damn these teeth!
Honestly, who knew that getting a mouthful of teeth was so hard? The first 8 were a nightmare. The four molars not so bad. Now he's getting these 'eye' teeth and they're really pissing him off! I can see that they cut through today, but it made for a rough nap and an even rougher wake up form the nap.
I cheated and nursed him! It's a cure-all and let me tell YOU, it's gonna be missed!

Weaning
Weaning has been a struggle. It's me and I know it's me. I love it. I love the closeness. I love the snuggle time. I've gotten so close so many times before and then completely back track. I make excuses. I know I do.
Today we nursed only once, first thing in the morning. This afternoon was heartbreaking. He was sad. He wasn't bratty, he was sad. He took me to our nursing spots and at each one he asked "milk, peeeassse?" and I would answer, "mamma's milk is all gone" and offer him his cup. He'd take me to the next spot and ask again. He was so sweet. Then he cried. Not a fit, a sad cry. I held him, we snuggled and then he was off to play.
I know it's time. I don't know why I'm not ready. Maybe it's because I truly don't want another child and I know this is the end of the baby.
He's such a sweetheart. He learns so quickly that I know this will be over before I know it.
Whaaat a day!

Good boy!
We had 2 hour and 30 minute nap IN THE CRIB today! So freakin' exciting! And we only nursed in the morning and for about a minute when he first got up from his nap. I'm on my way to freedom!
He also helped me cook today! It was the cutest thing. I would chop and he would put it all in the bowl. He took his job seriously and if he was finished before me, he'd look at me and say "mmooorre?".
God I love this kid!
