4 months

and 17lbs! It is amazing to me how fast this little guy is growing and how fast the time is going! Owen was 18lbs on his FIRST birthday.

Nate's a super fun baby.
  • He is so easy to smile has even had a few chuckles.
  • He is quite sturdy and loves to stand.
  • He can roll all over the house. I found him stuck under the ottomen yesterday!
  • He has pulled up onto all fours a couple of times which means he's ready to move! However, each time he promptly face planted.
  • He loves the doorway jumper.
  • He's finding his voice, most often displayed in a squeal.
  • He's starting to play with toys and can grab with ease.
  • He's MUCH better in the car.
  • He wakes up at least once per night, around 2am and then again around 5am, so I guess that's really twice.
  • He takes 30 minute cat naps every 90 minutes (this drives me nuts).
  • He loves, loves, loves a bath!

I don't care who you are...

this is just funny!
Look at his little self! Kills me!

First Day of Preschool

Owen started at Wonder Years Preschool at the beginning of January (1/8/10) and has been going for a solid two months. He goes 3 mornings a week and he loves it. He walks in, kisses us good-bye and never looks back. I pick him up after lunch and he's happy to see me and come home for his nap. It gives me time to run errands that Owen hates (any sort of shopping) and to spend some quality time with Nathan. It's great.

His teacher is Houda and she's fantastic. She LOVES Nathan and scoops him up the minute I walk in the door. Owen fits in nicely with his class, it's 10 boys and 2 girls (the poor woman) and is learning a ton. We need to work on tracing/writing/fine motor skills because the kid can't trace a line to save his life or use scissors without threatening his life or at least a digit!

Houda has learned that he's a very independent kid and despite her confidence that she'd have him potty trained in a few weeks, by the end of the first week she said "go ahead and send him in diapers". That's right Houda, don't think we haven't tried! She discovered how hard it is to feed him, he rarely finishes his lunch and is ALWAYS the only one still sitting there when I pick him up. The good news is, he's sitting there.

Here are some pictures from his first day!

Ready to go, note the kitty-cat is sitting shot-gun!
Going in!Jumps right in!

One of the best things in this world!

Owen's true laugh is so great and so hard to capture that this video is absolutely priceless!

Finally videos!!

Nate's been rolling over for awhile now. I was happy to get a nice slow roll on video, because usually, I can't even put him down and he instantly flips over.

A snapshot of my life!

I have no idea when Matt took this picture. I clearly had no idea it was being taken. I was just going through pictures to upload Owen's birthday party and came across it. It ABSOLUTELY is a snapshot into my life on a daily basis. You could look in a window of my house, any day, any time and you would most likely see exactly this: the three of us, Nate strapped to me Hangover style, Owen on the chair, all of us in the kitchen baking/cooking.
The house is a mess, I'm sweaty and in workout clothes, the kids look silly and frankly....it's my new all time favorite picture!

A little Nate

So I hate myself for even saying it, but poor Nate never gets his picture taken. And YES Owen at 3 months had at least 500 pictures and entire photo book made. It's embarrassing and horrifying and I feel ridiculous.

The thing is, Nate is so dang cute and smiles so incredibly easily you'd think we'd have a million super cute, smiley pictures, but he absolutely freezes at the camera. So all his pictures look the same. Like this:
So I tried a new approach. Distraction.
And sneak attacks!
I'll keep working on it!

Hiller Aviation Museum

We went with our mom's group to the Hiller Aviation Museum and although we've been there before to see Santa arrive by helicopter, we never really played there. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but Owen really loved it. The 'tour' was a silly idea. The poor old man was trying to give a regular adult or even school aged tour to 1-3 year olds. I didn't even try. I let Owen lead his own tour through the museum and we had a great time!
