On the way home from the gym tonight, Owen was trying to explain to Nathan why he would always be older. This is what I heard from the driver's seat:
Owen: Naf-en, when you are 4, I will be 6, when you are 5, I will be 7. I will ALWAYS be bigger.
Me (in my head): Older, probably not bigger.
Nathan: WHY?
Owen: Because I was in mommy's belly first.
Nathan (HORRIFIED): YOU WERE IN MOMMY'S BELLY?
Owen: Yes. So were you. But I was there first.
Nathan (freaking out): NO I wasn't. I wasn't. I wasn't in mommy's belly. (Practically in tears.)
Owen: Yes, you were, right mom?
Me: Yep.
Owen: I was in there. I was an egg. And then I hatched and sat in mommy's belly for a long time. How long mommy?
Me: 9 months
Owen: I sat in there for 9 months and mommy looked like she ate a big fat pig. Isn't that right?
Me: I hope not.
Owen: Then mommy and daddy went to the doctor and the doctor took me out of mommy's belly and mommy and daddy saw their new baby and said, "he is so cute, we'll call him Owen". And then I was out and then you went in.
Nathan: NO, I'm not in mommy's belly, Owen is not in mommy belly.
Me: No, no one is in my belly any more.
Nathan: Can me and Owen and daddy all go in your belly together?
Me: Nope, absolutely not. No one can go in my belly anymore.
And that was that.
That is how it happens people!

This cute face…
…has not slept past 5am since September! Most days it is closer to 4am.
I’ve tried moving his bedtime back to 8pm. No good. Up to 7pm. Same. Cut his nap down to 90 minutes. Nothing. Down to an hour. Rise and shine still comes too early.
So today I did the unthinkable and skipped the nap all together. He actually slept from 10:30-11am in the car, but I’m not counting that as much. He was exhausted and ready for bed by 7pm.
I hope I don’t see that darling grin again until at least 6am!
