Naptime

When you are with your children all day, every day, you really treasure naptime.  I treasure it.  I adore it.  I plan my entire life around it.  I want it in my life forever.

Nathan is up before 6am, every day.  Owen isn’t far behind.  My day starts early.  My day isn’t relaxing.  Owen talks, nonstop.  The kid does not leave my side and does not stop talking.  All day.

Neither stop moving; they run, they climb, they craft, they cook, they learn, they fight, they tickle, they laugh, they cry.  They’re busy.

I’m tired by nap time.  I want quiet.  I want to pee.  I want to tidy up the house.  I want to stare blankly at the internet and not think for a minute.

It’s the only time I’m alone And while I’m confined to the house, it’s the only time I can do what I want without being questioned or accompanied.

And a nap on the train, screws up a nap at home.  Because instead of napping right now, Nathan is throwing books out of his crib and saying “bye, book, see you soon” with each toss.

I should have tried to keep him awake, but he was too cute!

By the way, Nathan loved the train ride.  LOVED it.  Every time it would stop at a station, he’d put his little finger up and say “one more time, one more time.”
