July 4th

We had a busy 4th of July (which is quite unlike us)! We started the day with the Redwood City Parade, which always sounds more fun than it actually is. I mean, you can only see so many crazy floats, horses and groups of people walking down the street before you've had enough! There were four divisions of the parade and we were all done after the first two and headed over to the festival for lunch and a bounce house!!! We wanted to go on a few rides but the line for the tickets was insanely long so we headed home for our nap.

We relaxed at home for a few hours before heading out to a BBQ at our friend's (Christy and Roxy) house! We go to playgroup every Monday at Christy's and it's one of Owen's favorite places, so although Matt and I knew hardly anyone, Owen made himself right at home. And got himself COVERED in sidewalk chalk!
Here's Christy, her husband Jason and Roxy! And Owen, not so enthused to have his picture taken. After that we went back to the festival to try for the rides before the fireworks, but again the lines for the tickets was outrageous!! We decided just to go find a spot for the fireworks. It was a little sad because Owen was being soooooo good and when we left he kept saying "No rides for Owen?" with a little sad face. We told him that we couldn't get tickets and although he understood, he was still sad.

At the firework spot, we bought a light stick that really was a huge hit and was all Owen needed, we could have left right then. He did like the fireworks, but was much more entertained by the light stick.

Happy 4th of July, hope yours was as great as ours was!!
